Angry Orange Enzyme Stain Remover, 32 fl oz
CPSC recall 26-201 covers Angry Orange Enzyme Stain Removers. We do not list it as a buy.7
Does an enzyme cleaner work on old cat urine?
Rocco & Roxie says its cleaner needs to touch the urine and have time to work.9 For older stains it says to spray on the product and let it sit for a couple of days.10
Nature's Miracle's Advanced cat cleaner says to soak the spot and wait 15 minutes.3 For old odors on carpet it says to lay a wet towel over the spot for 1 to 2 hours.11 If the smell stays after the first try, Rocco & Roxie says the cleaner may not have reached all of the urine, so apply again.12
Which of these list oils that matter around cats?
Pet Poison Helpline lists citrus oil (d-limonene), pine, peppermint, cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus and tea tree oils among those known to poison cats.4 VCA says citrus oil and several others are poisonous to cats, by mouth or on the skin.13
Nature's Miracle Cat Urine Destroyer Plus lists d-limonene.2 The Angry Orange label lists orange peel oil.7 Odorcide Cat Odor-Off says "proprietary essential oil blend" and does not name the oils.5 The Rocco & Roxie and Nature's Miracle Advanced labels say only "Fragrance", so we cannot say what is in them.1
Is a non-enzyme cleaner a good second try?
Odorcide says Cat Odor-Off is non-enzymatic.14 You mix a half ounce into 16 ounces of water, apply it, and let it dry.15 Its label says that if the odor stays after it dries, the odor source has not been reached.16
We list it as a second try, not our pick, because we found no label wait time for old stains and its oils are not named.5
