ACTIVE Pet Laundry Detergent powder, 2 lb, 64 loads
Our pickBest for most pet laundry. It is an enzyme powder with no added fragrance that the maker says does 64 loads; the maker does not publish an ingredient list.1
Watch for: The maker does not publish a full ingredient list, so you cannot check it against your own list of things to avoid.

ATP LaundraPet 3X Enzyme Pet Laundry Detergent, 64 oz
Best liquid made for vets and kennels. The maker lists every ingredient, names two enzymes and sells it to vets and kennels, but it adds fragrance and a colorant.3

Loads come from each maker's own dose, not the Amazon title, and the price is divided by that count each day. The label and maker page beat the title on fragrance and enzymes.

Claims that do not match the label
Nature's Miracle Laundry Boost In-Wash Pet Stain & Odor Remover, 32 oz
The page says 'formulated without ... parabens' but its ingredient list names methylparaben and propylparaben.5
What should a laundry detergent for pet odor have?
Look for enzymes. They are made to break down the proteins in urine, drool and vomit instead of covering the smell. ATP's label names protease and amylase.3 ACTIVE says it uses an enzyme formula but does not name the enzymes.1
A detergent and a booster are different. A booster goes in with your regular detergent.4 A detergent can be used on its own.
Should pet laundry detergent have fragrance?
Fragrance can sit on top of an odor instead of removing it. ACTIVE says it has no added fragrances.1 ATP lists fragrance, a colorant and two preservatives.3
Skout's Honor lists a plant-based fragrance in its ingredients and then says it is fragrance free in its FAQ.9 If this matters to you, call the maker.
How much does one load cost?
It depends on the dose. ACTIVE's 64 loads are for one scoop; the maker says to use one to two scoops by soil and load size.1 ATP's 1 oz dose for high-efficiency washers and 2 oz for regular ones gives 64 or 32 loads from the 64 oz bottle.2
Bark2Basics has the lowest cost per load on the table at 1 oz a load, but its listing gives no ingredient list.6 Nature's Miracle does not publish a dose, so we cannot work out its cost per load.5
Do the labels match the claims?
Not always. Nature's Miracle says it is made without parabens, and its ingredient list names methylparaben and propylparaben.10 ATP's '96 washes' does not match its 1 oz dose.2
